He will tell you a story, and after that he will demand some goods in exchange for information. So you learn the thread recipe. You will also be given cotton seeds. Be sure to land it on your island!
When the cotton grows, pick it up, and then use the workshop inside the house to create a thread. To complete the Noho quest, you will have to collect 2 skeins of thread.
